I started out by asking the HG team to do some "brainstorming" about what they envisioned for their new site and online presence. Knowing that the site would be the "face" of their firm—the first impression to all incoming clients--they understood the importance of a design that would convey their experience, integrity and values. Some of the words that came to mind for the team were local, community, welcoming, inclusive, experienced, balanced, monochromatic, approachable, authentic and professional. I used these ideas to kick off my design process and create a few different mockups for them to look at.
